That's because of the Phish craze.

Nashville is a big metro area, but it's also a city known for its country music output rather than rock or metal.

Nashville has a pretty big punk and metal following.

The End is essentially just a punk/metal only venue

Glenn Danzig's House is a popular metal venue as well

I'm not sure why a city like New Orleans couldn't draw 15k for a good metal show though.

heavy shows can and have done well here -- but its not proven to be something that will fill large spaces week in and week out.

Deftones sold out the Orpheum and LOG came really close. Might have sold out with walk ups that day. Napalm Death/Melvins sold out OEJ's and Amon Amarth drew a good crowd at the HOB. I will admit the Soulfly and Dying Fetus shows at Southport had kinda weak crowds though.

Thanks for the enlightenment, 12Pence.

I was unaware of that particular venue. There always seems to be another theater or bar listed when ever I see tour dates listed in Nashville. However, that name does sound a bit familiar.

Still, it's frustrating when you think of all of the metal bands who have emerged from New Orleans who have become national or even international touring acts.

Alot of it has already been said in this thread but in today's age, its all in the bands control. They have one real way to make $ and it is live shows. They have a huge advantage now in that the streaming channels (Pandora, Spotify, etc) are catering to the artists (so they dont pull their music from their streaming) and supplying the artists and managers with tons of data. An artist can pinpont the cities it wants to tour in (if not a one off show put on by an outside promoter) by seeing the cities that stream their songs the most. The granularity of data these days is astonishing.
