Lol. You're right Gotye did get one the other night.

I must have spaced on that one.

ETA: But I still like the Shakes to have a little bit longer lasting run.

Not sure what you're point is in this thread. I can't control who the Grammys award. My prediction was wrong, along with many others..

Gotye will be a fart in the wind, while the shakes will put out more quality music...

No point was attempted. I just found it funny is all. I remember when this was first posted. I don't think I had heard any of the shakes. I had heard gotye's hit. I checked out the shakes just to see. Terrible.

I think GIVERS will be bigger than Alabama Shakes at the end of the day

No Louisiana bias, either. Different styles, yes, but I think GIVERS are better at what they do. Plus their chick is

Hmm.. I want to agree with you, but I don't think the givers will get that big. Though, they are insanely talented.

Beyond their talent, they also have the backing of Neil Young. He wrote about them in his latest book. Also, a song in FIFA is a pretty damn big deal considering it's worldwide distribution.

They are a festival band IMO

They'll never win any Grammys, even though they have some good songs.

But they'll make their living playing live.

As far as FIFA goes, royal teeth has a song in there as well and I'd say they are quickly becoming a bigger band than givers with them being on the alt nation too 18 for quite some time now.

Givers never were...

Royal teeth are on danger bird records and have some serious backing from a lot of industry folks that are behind them.

They are quickly blowing up and have more push than the givers did/do.

Even though givers are on glassnote, you don't really see them getting a whole lot of push.

Jangle pop is a genre of alternative rock from the mid-1980s that "marked a return to the chiming or jangly guitars and pop melodies of the '60s", as exemplified by The Byrds, with electric twelve-string guitars and power pop song structures. Mid-1980s jangle pop was a non-mainstream "pop-based format" with "some folk-rock overtones". Between 1983 and 1987, the description "jangle pop" was, in the US, used to describe bands like R.E.M., Let's Active and Tom Petty, and a subgenre called "Paisley Underground", which incorporated psychedelic influences.[1] In the UK the term was applied to the new wave of raw and immediate sounding melodic guitar-bands collected on the NME's C86 (and later CD86) compilations.

Grammys do not mean anything. Other than you made a decent pop song that old people like. The Grammys always trend about 20-30 years behind pop music. Winning one is actually kind of a bad thing. It means you appeal to 50-year-olds.

I've never heard anyone, other than Doc, argue that an artist is quality based upon their Grammy nominations/wins. Ever. No one thinks the Beatles are the best band ever because Sgt. Pepper's won a Grammy (it did, but no one cares).
