Whitney had a much broader range of expression and soulfulness to her voice and could have delivered in a much wider range of popular musical genres.
Mariah, without question, has incredible technical skills/talent in voice that are impossible to reproduce with training or effort. Just a little nudge and Mariah could have sung opera, professionally.

Whitney, omigod, "How Will I Know" video blew me out of the water.

I realized I am into the sistas sometimes. Janet took that to another level, but that's another story for another day.
This is just GOAT level stuff.

ETA, I think I got into Dreamlover, Heartbreaker, and a few other Mariah projects, but it wasn't true love like with Whitney.
