Probably because the record producers also own the radio stations and force that shite in everyone's ears. I was trying to tell my friends that like pop country about Kacey Musgraves a few years ago, and they didn't want to hear it because the local country station never played her. Then she won album of the year at the CMA's, she got some token play on the radio, and now they all act like they've been huge fans of her for years.

I actually don’t totally disagree relative to Stapleton and even Sturgill as being “Nashville”.
Sturgill has done some cry for attention things that let you know he really cares about being accepted by Nashville...then he released his newest album and went a different way.
