And I would absolutely add Jason Becker to that melodic list.

Buckethead has some good melodic pieces.

Sail On Soothsayer

Earth Heals Herself

The Light in the Fog

Speaking of, Buckethead is playing the Joy Theater in NOLA on May 17th if anyone is interested. I grabbed a ticket.

I have found Lari Basilio to have a beautiful sound.
Never heard of her until today.

I just finished reading his new autobiography. Pretty crazy the niche he carved out for himself.

His 1st 2 solo albums for me will always be the GOAT:

Marty is in my top 3 all time along with Lynch and DeMartini. He is certainly one of the most unique soloists out there

No offense, but IMO, he leaves those one-trick ponies in the dust.

Technically, sure, but the other 2 are pretty genius when it comes to phrasing and melody work. Idc either way, I grew up with that stuff

I actually meant the other way around. Lynch might be more technically gifted, but Marty is the master of melody. I can't see any work of Lynch's or DeMartini (or really anyone, including Satriana/Vai) that can match him in that regard. The first 2 albums are just astounding.

I'd say the closest would actually be Jason Becker. This shite is amazing and intense:

In the new book he talks about how personally astounded he was by Becker's genius at the age of 16.

That entire Perpetual Burn album is truly gold.
