When guitarists play bass: does it sound good or bad to you?

from a bass player's standpoint, i'm not impressed. ya'll don't hit enough low notes and it doesn't groove at all. ya'll got no rhythm
bassists > guitarists
bassists > guitarists

I can always spot a guitar player playing bass
Pretty obvious.
Pretty obvious.

I've been told I play better bass than guitar. Take it FWIW though. I play WAY more rhythm than lead and I honestly was never that good at playing lead. Think of like a poor man's Frusciante. I never really stuck with the conventional methods of playing lead (mostly due to lack of knowledge) and I just play off of feel more than speed and theory.
Plus I'm a better drummer than guitar player. I find it funny because I've only been REALLY playing drums for a year and I played guitar for 14 or so.
Anyone that knows anything can. I don't really know how to explain it, but they always try to play it like a guitar. They're doing 'guitar shite on a bass' rather than 'bass shite on a bass'

I look like a moron when I try to play bass
It just feels awkward I guess. I fingerpick way more than using a pick on guitar, but I start trying to do lead and make a fool of myself. Just doesn't work.
Weird thing is that I'm pretty good at drums. I have the rhythm for it. I've been playing for over 8 years, used to be my main instrument, bass just never caught my interest enough or I'm just not fit for it. Over the years I've become much more of a guitarist though, love what you can do with melodies and all the sounds... it's almost endless.

Jimmy Page and Keith Richards have been known to play bass on occasion.

I thought you were primarily a bass player anyway?

We gave you advice on barre chords, keep the trollin on the OT.

Guitar players are often waaaaaaay out in front of the beat. If the bass did that the groove would fall apart.

In addition to his kick arse solo on 'Sympathy For The Devil', that's Keith on bass (there is video footage of him doing so). Wyman did percussion and backup vox.

I play guitar but i can manage to hold down a simple groove on the bass.
Nothing too complex but it doesn't sound terrible, at least to me
