I've always been partial to Heartbreak Hotel. It's bluesy, bare-bones rock & roll at its finest.

Kentucky Rain is excellent...but this (from the '68 special) has always been my favorite version of any Elvis song...

R&B Elvis was special. Sun records, early RCA and '68 Comeback.
My favorite song is probably Blue Moon or I Wanna Play HOuse.

Next time you are in Nashville, take the RCA tour...Studio B where Are You Lonesome Tonight was recorded is a pretty special place in the history of music. They turned the lights out in the studio when Elvis did the vocals, and near the end of the song, he bumps the mic. Chet Atkins left the bump in the final cut...if you listen for it, you can hear it. Also, Floyd Cramer is playing piano on that track. When the song was number 1, Floyd Cramer's Last Date was number 2...so his work on Elvis' song kept his own song from being #1.
