Whitley (I think his real name is Lawrence Brian Greenwood) I just found this guy yesterday and came over here to the board to see if anyone had ever posted about him and all I got were Keith Whitley threads. Not much out there about him, but this album, "The Submarine," is really, really good and it was actually back from 07. Australian guy, folksy, acoustic guitars, banjos, strings (violins, cellos, base). I think this guy is just fantastic. I've been listening to it round the clock for the past 48 hours when I'm conscious and able to listen. Other people (who like this type of music) really would love it I think. I told my wife if Beck and Alison Krauss ever did an album it would probably sound similar to The Submarine. The reason I use Alison is because there are several songs with a female back up vocalist and the bluegrass element is there and it just sounds great. She definitely is not on Alison's level, but still it's good.
Whitley - The Submarine (first song is Cheap Clothes)
Seriously, do your self a favor and check it out. You'll be better off for listening to this. He honestly deserves his own thread, but I doubt many have heard him so there wouldnt be any replies.
