What are the essential jazz albums to own

Though I'm familiar with the great names of jazz, I've never listened to the music much. I'm looking for about five albums are so to start off a must have collection. I'm not looking for anything too fast paced, more of something that will be relaxing to listen to while I grade papers or read a book.
