It was nice, sounds good and had some really nice looking wood. It was a natural spruce top with a lot of the bear claw figuring. Not sure about the back and sides, it looked a lot like rosewood, but very open pored, maybe Ovangkol?
It had the K&K pickup system installed in it.
The tone seemed really bright, but it didn't boom. I think these jumbo guitars I've been messing with lately have spoiled me a bit

Which model was that? Sounds like one of the lower end ones.

E1D or E2D maybe?

I don't know for sure, they were asking a couple of thousand for it.
I could have brought it home, but I think my rosewood Epiphone sounds better and plays just as well, so I couldn't justify it.

That would be top level Eastman then.

Was it more of a Martin like traditional dreadnought or a Taylor like cutout style?

It seemed like a mix of both, it was a dreadnought, the bridge sort of reminded me of a Taylor batwing style, but it didn't have a bolt on neck. Great looking guitar.

I like their traditional style dreadnoughts but this isn't sounding familiar.

I had an E8D and it was better than a 2002 HD28 I had and about equal with a 1994 HD28 I had.

Plenty of low end, great for bluegrass.

I really want an E20SS/V which is a rosewood slope shoulder with an Adi top and "antique varnish."

I'll probably go back there tomorrow, and maybe can give more details after that.
I really liked the looks of that top, beautiful, but it wasn't better sounding or playing than what I already have.

I'm curious as to the model.

Every Eastman I've ever played has been really good (there's a dealer near me so I've played many) but I've only played the traditional dreadnought line.

The price would suggest a very high end Eastman, the very top nearly.

The dealer near me got a jumbo in, similar to a J200 that I want to try. I believe it goes for $2500 new.

Its a nice guitar man. I liked the feel of it, and it looks great. Like I said though, I've got a really great guitar.

Save your money. You are already not into it and it’s double the price of what you have.

You have $2k in your pocket and nothing but time to keep shopping and squirreling away more $$$. That’s not a bad spot to be.

Yep, you're right. I'm gonna stick with what I've got and spend money on recording a bit.
Damn that top looks great though.
