Rolling Stone Review
Rivers interview with Apple Music
ORIGINS:
"Rivers Cuomo has credited producer Jake Sinclair with planting "the seed of an idea" for OK Human in 2017. "Just you and a piano, and an orchestra, and it's gonna be super-personal, quirky songs that only you could write, not worrying about commercial potential at all, [1] adding that Sinclair suggested he listen to the 1970 album Nilsson Sings Newman by Harry Nilsson. Cuomo said that he was excited from day one, and that the songs came quickly thereafter, with the album being "about 90% done" before he was made aware of the forthcoming Hella Mega Tour."
Tracklist
1. All My Favorite Songs
2. Aloo Gobi
3. Grapes of Wrath
4. Numbers
5. Playing My Piano
6. Mirror Image
7. Screens
8. Bird with a Broken Wing
9. Dead Roses
10. Everything Happens for a Reason
11. Here Comes the Rain
12. La Brea Tar Pits
SPOTIFY
I have enjoyed Aloo Gobi and Here comes the rain on my first listen through. Still want VAN WEEZER though. The cancel of the Hella Mega Tour last year moved the concert from SAT night to WED, bummer.
=W=
Misc rap song I’ve been digging

I'll be spinning this today. I like the 1st song, and have listened to a few more. Nothing really grabbed me but the jury is still out.

I got excited when I read the title. I thought it was going to be an OK Computer cover album or something influenced by the original Radiohead album.
This is the furthest thing from that.

I like the album, but it is certainly different from what you would expect. A very covid/quarantine feeling project.
If you watch the video, rivers mentions a orchestra tour playing ok human and Pinkerton. I think that would be awesome

Take my money, now!

Album is growing on me. I’m liking it more with each listen and getting more excited for Van Weezer as well.

Good not great after one listen. Another feather in the cap for Rivers Cuomo for intertwining the orchestra w/ his voice and the band. Already liking it more on second listen. Le Brea Tar Pits is a good song.

I think it's great, just highlights Rivera's unreal sound writing and arrangements

Current favorite may be “Bird With a Broken Wing.” I agree with you. The arrangements are really special in these songs.

I really enjoyed it on first listen. Need to listen again

I couldn't put this album down the whole weekend. It's brilliant! I love the stretch from "Playing My Piano" to "Bird With a Broken Wing."
My kids love the album too. I was thinking how crazy it is that the Blue album came out almost 30 years ago when I was just a kid. Here I am listening to new Weezer that still blows me away, and my kids are about the same age as I was when I was rocking out to them. Crazy...

I gotcha covered.
Get tickets here - $20
April 16 at 8PM CT
For an extra $40 you can attend some Q&A with the band after the show. I don't many details on it.
I already bought my ticket. IMO this album is AOTY so far and likely won't be topped. It's the best thing they've released since Pinkerton, and I really enjoyed a couple of their other albums since then as well. I'm looking forward to the stream and hope to catch them live the next time they come around.

This is tonight, the wedding was actually last weekend. I’m excited

I’m stoked. And I haven’t really been into watching live streams of concerts since the pandemic started.

Pretty damn good show. Rivers’ voice seemed off at first but he pulled it together. Was a tad weird with no audience at the venue but they made it work. Was interesting to see some full orchestra arrangements to classics like Buddy Holly.
Can’t wait to see them in person when they are back on tour.

I feel as though I really paid for the non ok human songs

Watching the evolution of SUB’s posts in this thread makes me long for a similar music experience. I haven’t had that happen in a long time.
