This makes me very sad. Steely Dan is my favorite group of all time. I've got probably everything they have ever done. I even have a old album from before they were Steely Dan. With Chevy Chase as the drummer.

Becker co-wrote some of the smoothest, cleanest, and just brilliant music the world has heard. The guy also could flat-out wail.
I was privileged to see The Dan three times recently (Jazz Fest twice; UNO once); I'm not sure a better time can be had. Becker's playing was impeccable, and he was also funny and intelligent.
With the sax solos, female vocals, etc., SD they were masters of instrumentation and crafting perfect pop songs with a jazz bent. One of my absolute favorite bands ever.
All Hail The Dan, and R.I.P. Walter Becker! You've left us many treasures.

Saw Steely Dan 6 times live since they returned to touring in mid 90's.
