On a serious note, I wonder if any hip hop artists play in Oxford. I don't think I saw one black person while I was there.

I've been in Bowen's office before when he is booking a band. All he does is callup the agent and say "Hey man, there are some dudes on Tigerdroppings who want to see your band" and the agent just says "Cool, we'll be there on this date."
There is absolutely no discussion of numbers, ticket price, gate split, what Bowen's budget is, how much he already bhas committed to other acts, what else is going on in town at that time, whether school is on or out, any talk of mitigating risk, any talk if the act is touring or if they're in the region or if they want to come to the region or who would pay travel expense or anything.
It is literally just "hey, tigerdroppings wants you so show up" and it happens.
What I'm really saying is all of your criticisms are totally grounded in reality and incredibly fricking valid.

that's how all venues work. They read what you, anonymous individual on the internet, want and then the band just shows up.
