Unknown ancient rock star of the day -- David Werner

He had a couple of albums in the late 70s but faded to obscurity. I always enjoyed his debut album, Whizz Kid, as a classic example of glam rock. He wrote all the songs and they hold up pretty well.

Wow, none of that sounds familiar. I am surprised. What one song would be most likely to have been heard on the radio?

My guess would be Love Is Tragic, but I never heard them on the radio. I only stumbled across the album because at the time I was working a job that had access to lots of new releases. That's also how I discovered Genesis -- a free copy of Selling England by the Pound.

I also listened to his later "glam rock classic" "What's Right" and was not too impressed. But I definitely want to check out the earlier Whizz Kid album.

Yeah, I'm not sure why that first album didn't do better. Definitely has some nice hooks. I think he shot his wad on the first record and ran out of ideas, then got into producing.
