Toto appreciation thread...

I know there are certain bands that are commercially successful pop bands that aren't "cool" to like like Journey, REO Speedwagon, etc. and Toto would probably fit that category. I say frick that especially when it comes to Toto. They are an incredible band musically and had some great songs throughout the 80s. Definitely one of the more underrated bands musically. Africa, Rosanna, Pamela, etc. Good stuff.

I like Rosanna but to me "Pamela" is the best female name song they ever made. Hotter chicks in that video too. I'd post the Pamela video if I wasntu on my phone. In fact, if you could provide a link to the original Pamela video I'd appreciate it. Jeff Pacarro (drummer) grooves it on that song.

I'm going to post this to myself as a reminder.

I don't care how talented they were musicianship wise they are just fricking lame.

No doubt. It's hilarity.

90% of the crap played on popular radio the last 10 years is "lame" but that doesn't mean I or others need to make cynical comments about it in an appreciation thread like you and Chef are doing.

Sorry man..just figured you'd sneak that one in on one of the many embarrassing/guilty pleasure threads on here.
fricking Toto?

Yea, frickin Toto
I'm not saying I'm going to start a fan club or anything like that. I just thought I'd give them a little love. Music is so laughably bad nowadays that I can appreciate the musicianship of even the cheesiest bands from back in the day. Toto was cheesy, but they did have a few damn good, underrated songs.

They are lame, but their music is lame and campy in just the best way possible. I fricking love Africa.

Trillhog, it going to take a lot to drag me away from you.

they were good musicians (this was a quasi all star band of veteran studio musicians, amirite?).
Like Mama (RIP) used to say, 'if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say it' (although here we're talking about an 'always look for the silver lining' or something of that nature).
