The biggest issue I had was their relying on riffs that were used on prior albums

This is a definite legit criticism. I always hear Third Eye in the middle riff of Rosetta Stoned, it's actually jarring. There's another riff somewhere as well that's from another song.

It's weird bc Tool is Adam's band and it's strange to think he's just straight up reusing riffs.

10,000 Days is a better album than Lateralus. Been saying that for quite a while now.

Yes! And it does happen in other songs as well. It's very subtle

I think he's doing this as a filler to move the song and let the drums and bass lead the show. Almost to be the supporting instruments in an orchestra. I'm not saying I like or this is even it, but it makes the most sense to me

Great song. The Carl Sagan/War video mashup on YouTube is the shite.

I like every Tool album like I love my kids. All different but the same.

I did not like 10,000 days when it came out all that much. I loved The Pot but otherwise I was let down.

Years and years later I went back to it and now I absolutely love it. It has grown on me a lot.

I'm the opposite, sort of. It grew on me pretty fast and I wore it out, but then got sick of it after a year or so. I put it down and hadn't listened to it in full until recently. I still don't feel all that great about it. It's a decent album, but still my least favorite of theirs.

Lateralus is still my favorite album but Wings for Marie/10,000 days (combined) is my favorite song.

Also didn’t come to appreciate 10,000 days as much until I lost my mom 5 years ago.
