Thoughts on SOAD?

My perception of them has always been shaped by songs like BYOB and Chop Suey. I thought all of their music was like those 2 songs, with alot of sporadic "freakout" moments littered throughout their songs (which i'm not a fan of), or that they were another shitty textbook Nu Metal band. One of my buddies left his copy of "Hypnotize" in my car a few weeks ago and i finally got myself to listen to it.
I can't stop listening to it.
I didn't know they wrote as many mid-paced, groovy songs. I think "Holy Mountains" has become one of my favorite songs of all time. The title track is another "slower" song that i fell in love with. The vocal harmonies performed on "Dreaming", "Lonely Day", and "U-Fig" are beautiful as well. I'm also a huge fan of the exotic, middle eastern scales and modes that they write alot of their music in.
I wanna get an SOAD record of my own soon, any recommendations?

Toxicity is easily their best. First album is decent too. The rest aren't worth bothering with.

They're very talented and somewhat my kind of music....but damn it gets annoying when all the 14 and 15 year olds that only listen to chop suey sing it

I actually love SOAD. i think they generally get the perception of being that type of band thats part screamo, really crazy (which they kind of are) but they're definitely so much deeper than what they get credit for.
I have all their albums, but I think Hypnotize, Mezmerize and Toxicity are my three favorites

I am a fan of "Steal This Album".
"Mr. Jack" is probably my favorite song of theirs. If you like the slower, more goovy tunes, you will like this one too.
