A bIt too inclusive and synthpathetic for me, but certainly detailed and overall a decent intro to the late '70s/early 80s era

Anne Magnuson from Bongwater dancing around in the video... and I forget Jack Irons played with them for a bit..

I just watched the whole video... not bad and it gave me a few things to check out..
Kinda cool that he included the Exploding Hearts at the end.. many of those songs were co-written by NOLA's own King Louie Bankston (RIP)! It's an incredible record... RIP most of the band.. tragic..

Didn't see post above.
Watch the video. He sorta explains wimpy. It's not pejorative.

Raspberries + Badfinger = wimpy
lol. They're in the first sentence of any definition of what Power Pop is.
Edit: I could also make a case The Who and The Kinks were the granddaddies of Power Pop.

There's no telling how many times I heard the Blondie version not knowing it was a cover.

The Big Star Quintet is a live performing group dedicated to celebrating the music of the influential power-pop band Big Star, featuring original drummer Jody Stephens alongside Mike Mills (R.E.M.), Jon Auer (The Posies), Pat Sansone (Wilco), and Chris Stamey (the dB's).

The riff reminds me of "Sweet Jane".
Can anyone tell me what this song is about?
On 2nd thought, never mind -- I'm not sure I want to know...

I do not know how this keeps happening unless people are not reading any of the thread before posting.
