I was there around the same time, we probably know each other. Katty is the one who trained me. Darren gauthier was the station manager at the end of my run when they started having us play set lists. I just ignored those.

KLSU was instrumental in developing my taste in music. Got exposed to such wide variety of music and was able to go to pretty much any concert in BR/laffy/nola. I owe alot to that station.

Is anyone here that spun rekkids at WLSU back when we only broadcast to the dorms? I was there '77-'81 and then filled in here and there after graduating. We went from WLSU to WPRG when we got a real transmitter. We were forced to play 5 progressive jazz cuts per hour. I got real good at finding the shortest cuts available or simply fading them out and following it up with The Ramones.

It was my #1 preset from '85 to '92. I'll never forget hearing Smells Like Teen Spirit while driving home on Dalrymple. I told everyone about it. No one had heard it. It disappeared for a bit and then suddenly hit the mainstream. I probably would have never gotten my job at Murphy's without KLSU.

Nice ... Katty is still a good friend and recently moved to LA, so I see her on occasion. She was the first one to really break into showbiz with her internship at Letterman.

That guy .... the one that ruined the station for a bit. Terrible.

I will never forget going to a meeting at the Union fall of 91' to join the station ... you had to fill out a questionnaire about the bands you liked and who you thought other people might not know about. I was so nervous and almost didn't go ... but it changed my trajectory from hanging out mostly with high school frat friends (nothing against that path) to hanging out at the Bayou, Varsity. Hurt my grades and graduation date, but set me up for a lifetime of entertainment work. Great memories of that time.
