Rock 'n' roll legend Jerry Lee Lewis is on the mend after he suffered a minor stroke earlier this week.
The 83-year-old musician had a stroke Thursday evening, but is expected to make a "full recovery," according to his publicist Zach Farnum.
“He is with his family, recuperating in Memphis and the doctors expect a full recovery,” Farnum told People magazine on Friday. “The Killer looks forward to getting back into the studio soon to record a Gospel record and on the road performing live for his fans."
"His family requests privacy at this time," Farnum added. "Well wishes and prayers are greatly appreciated."
Famously nicknamed "The Killer," Lewis is known for his outrageous energy and piano skills on songs like "Great Balls of Fire" and "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On."
He is slated to perform at the 50th anniversary of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival in April.

Saw him one time when I lived in Mississippi. He played some chicken festival in Forest, MS back in 1999 or 2000. Buddy and I went. It was in a rodeo arena that had a stage at the end. When it came time for him to perform the doors at the back of the arena opened up and in came a long white Cadillac pulling up to the front of the stage. Out walked The Killer and he walked up to the piano and started jammin! Played for awhile, walked off the stage, got back in the Caddy and rode off. It was Awesome!

I’m not sure what is meant by “minor stroke”.
A stroke is a stroke. Some people suffer more serious effects th an others, but the event is basically the same, And recovery is different for each person, pretty unpredictable. Neurologists won’t commit to anything. I hope he does recover most of his abilities. The rehab is a bitch.

I like when people say so and so had a small heart attack.
Just like being a little bit pregnant. It’s either yes or no.
