From the thread on misunderstood lyrics: Can someone clarify this for me?
I understand the Guess Who were Canadian and I read the Wiki comments .. American Woman .. wiki.. but obviously there is more to this than I get.

that's it in a nutshell. The Golden Girls dance to it in the patriotic halftime show. and lyrics like
are incongruent with the theme of the show. It's not a big deal, I just think it's funny that whoever picked the song never bothered to consider the lyrics.
