What are you listening to?
Favorite songs of that band, most recent album, similar music, something totally different?
I'm one that will jam out to the band I'm about to see. If I have a live album, or a bootlegged concert I'll listen to that to try and get the effect before I go in for the show.

I listen to similar music to get in the groove...

Example:
Day of Widespread Panic show. Usually jam bands that are similar or that they cover. Close to show time, hit up the lot and listen to the most obscure bootleg and brag about that one song is the best ever played while wearing a lot tee and drinking fat tire. So frat.

I have no set formula. I may listen to the band im seeing, i may not. I usually listen to something similar. If im going to a hip hop show, chances are im gonna listen to some hip hop on the way there.
