Remember that year well, and all the aforementioned discs.

Why no Smiths 'Strangeways Here We Come', Cruzados' 'After Dark', Bryan Ferry 'Bete Noire', George Michael 'Faith', Sinead OConner 'Lion & Cobra' Prince 'Sign of the Times', Tom Waits 'Frank's Wild Years', Psych Furs 'Midnight to Midnight', The Cure 'Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me' 10,000 Maniacs ' In My Tribe, Introducing the Hardline According to Terence Trent D'Arby, Bruce Springsteen 'Tunnel of Love', George Harrison 'Cloud Nine',etc..

Sure they'd finish behind the leaders, but many were 5* productions.

Bryan Ferry 'Bete Noire',
whoa. Bryan was mucho Bryan, and Roxy Music were da shizen, but hey, Bete Noire commands zero respect.

As to others you mention, you´re right, especially The Cure and Psychedelic Furs. Both had epic albums that year.

It was definitely not his greatest effort, had some good songs, but mediocre overall. Still have most of his library, and all Roxy Music, big fan.
