That Metal Show on VH1-Classic...horrible

I have to vent and apologize for the length of my thread. The VH1 trio of Eddie and the 2 guys who think they're funny is bothersome. That show will never take off because it doesn't need 3 guys on a 30 minute show with one interview with usually someone no one wants to hear from ala David Coverdale or Steven Pearcy. Something about it...just doesn't sit right with me. I do like hearing Eddie's vast knowledge and respect it, but he should do the show by himself. Matt Pinfield, Alan Thicke, and that chick named Kennedy from 1990's MTV would be better hosts.

The show's formula is:

1 Opener with guitar solo from weekly "legend" guitarist from the likes of Rainbow/Brittany Fox/Hurricane/Accept/WASP, etc.

2 Top 5 (for instance...) Album intros. Eddie gives his, guy #2 gives his, third dude gives his...somehow they come up with an averaged top 5. No formula. "No I really think KISS Destroyer belongs at #1, even though nobody but me picked it."

3. Interview with someone from a metal band. Jesse James Dupree from Jackyl one show...Lars Ulrich the next...Brian Johnson the next (okay so these interviews ain't so bad when you bring in the studs) or they go as low as letting the keyboard player from some band like Europe be the next one. Very inconsistent and often awkward conversations and unnecessary jokes made. Again, no need for 3 guys to interview one.

4. Stump Eddie and his musical knowledge, which they often can do because the questions are so far out in left field...Where did the drummer from Cinderella attend summer camp? The member of the audience who asks the question gets to reach into a prize box filled with cd's, pamphlets, fridge magnets, etc.

5. Promote a random album...maybe their best segment b/c it's short, sweet, and good for new metal bands' publicity (or maybe it kills it). Throughout each segment, the guest guitar "legend" plays a solo for 30 seconds.

Seriously, VH1 could make this into a much better show than what it currently is. I enjoyed 80's metal/hard rock which is what most of the material is, so a show that pays tribute to all that is a great idea, but it cannot be thrown together. Don't change the substance and sell out and start bringing on Metro Station or new age crap, but they have GOT to make the show more entertaining and worthwhile. The set looks horrible and they are shooting from the hip, yet they're overly rehearsed with the jokes and comments...and they usually find some guy in the audience and if he looks like Greg Allman, guy #2 will say, "Greg Allman is here with us." Guy looks more like Greg Bowser, of course, to add insult to injury.

Anyone else seen this show and feel the same? Again, it's embarrasing that it's even on tv at all. 3 burned out metal heads that say how godly Ronnie James Dio is when the segment has nothing to do with him.



* I always see the commercial with the guy who hosts a multi-hour long radio show that plays classic hard rock. He says something about "Not talking about Stairway played _______ times (sorry, cannot quote it verbatim)" and promotes the "Don't you just love the sound of hot licks in the evening?" I guess they don't know that Pandora and 400 other websites have taken over and we're supposed to be impressed that a song by Bad Company followed by a song from Van Halen is uncanny? What does that show do that Scotty Drake and Eagle 98.1 in BR doesn't do?

Cranky is I. But I hope this is a good thread and most of you have seen the show.
