This song is appropriate for me on Father's Day. While neither my Dad nor I were musicians, this song always reminded me of him and made me think of all he did for me. He was a great trial attorney in New York City. When I came down here to go to law school I had every intention of going back home and practicing with him, but fell in love with D.C.
While I have been fairly successful in my career, and was honored by by my election as President of both The Barristers and The Counsellors, I never reached the heights my Dad did in the practice of law. So the lyric, “My life has been a poor attempt to imitate the man, I’m just a living legacy to the leader of the band” always resonated with me.
Part of me regrets that I never went back to Staten Island to practice with him, but I think it would have been a frustrating experience living in his shadow. I am glad that one of my sisters took over his practice.
Dan Fogelberg "Leader of the Band"
I miss you, Dad. R.I.P.

Bunk, this is a great thread and you have been doing a lot of good work here.
I should post one written and performed by a fellow Iona College alum, Don McLean:
"And I Love You So"
It was popular back when I was in college.

I was watching "The 40 Year Old Virgin" and heard a clip of this song. It's the theme song from a TV show in the early 80s, "The Greatest American Hero". I enjoyed the show, especially looking at Connie Sellecca:
Joey Scarbury "The Theme From 'The Greatest American Hero - Believe It Or Not'"
I always thought it was one of the best TV theme songs.
ETA: S, this is truly one of the great TD threads.

No dude, her voice was not "great", it was perfection, it was pure. There will never be another Karen.
