Figured there would be some interest on this board.

Summerfest is the largest music festival in the US (they claim largest in the world), and occurs during the best weather of the year in Milwaukee. Happens at the State Fair grounds on the shore of Lake Michigan, basically walkable to downtown Milwaukee. Super cheap for a day pass, which gets you in to a ton of great bands, and then the largest acts in the ampitheater on the grounds that seats about 35,000. Saw Zac Brown there are few years ago and it was an amazing show. Could see the fireworks going on downtown while the show was happening.

Headliners this year aren't awesome, but I am a huge ZBB fan, and I'd check out Aldean, Lionel Richie, and wouldn't say no to Snoop just because he cracks my shite up.

THOMAS RHETT (6/26)
OUTLAW MUSIC FESTIVAL (6/27)
JASON ALDEAN (6/28)
BON IVER (6/29)
ZAC BROWN BAND (6/30)
LIONEL RICHIE (7/2)
JENNIFER LOPEZ (7/3)
MEGADETH (7/4)
THE KILLERS (7/5)
BILLIE EILISH (7/6)
LIL WAYNE, SNOOP DOGG, AND SCHOOLBOY Q (7/7)

Other acts of note:

Willie Nelson
Phil Lesh and Friends
Avett Brothers
MICHAEL MCDONALD!!!!!!!!
The Killers
Chicago
The National
Young the Giant
Foreigner
Styx
The Roots
Bone

Actually...there appear to be hundreds across many genres. There are probably a lot of cool new bands that I'm not hip enough to even recognize.

Anyone been or planning on going?

See for yourself

This is a good festival. Took my son there to see Rush in 2010. Very nice amphitheater.

After Rush we walked past where Modest Mouse was playing. We caught a song & left. In hindsight I felt I should've stayed longer but didn't want another show to erase the Rush buzz.

How do you feel about their shift? You okay with the shitty dance music?

They're definitely spreading their wings, and stuff I was a little so-so on when released has grown on me (the Grohl Sessions for example). Some of their new "less country" stuff I like a lot...Someone I Used To Know and From Now On (yes, a cover) to name a couple. But I will always defer to their more classic country-ish and reggae/island tunes.

We saw them at Legend's Day for the 500 and their set included covers of

Devil Went Down to Georgia
Use Somebody
Bohemian Rhapsody
Sabotage
Enter Sandman

Eclectic covers to say the least, but they crushed all of them. I think they knew there would be a mixed crowd there so they threw in more covers.

I think that's what makes it kinda cool. Allows you to sample a bunch of different kinds of music and not have to commit any money or more time than you'd want to it.

And lots of food and beer and a great setting are also pretty nice.
