I became a teen in the early 90's and I've never heard of Taylor Dayne until this thread.

It has become such a niche area of entertainment that people will try to fake reactions, for stolen praise of sorts, so that should be taken into consideration.

If you’re just scrolling down the rabbit hole for these things, I get the cynicism. But if you know a particular channel and follow them over time, you can usually sift out the frauds.

The only thing that will make me scroll faster than a dumb AI stop video is a dumb "first time listening" reaction video. Almost more baffling than the people pretending to hear these songs for the first time is that people actually believe these people are hearing these songs for the first time.

The people that do these are geniuses because the fans of whatever artist they are “hearing” for the “first time” get served the video in their feed (if you listen to a lot of Tom Petty, you get served people listening to Petty the first time) and the viewer gets that same feeling as you would get introducing a friend to new music that you really like and then enjoying it.

They always have over the top positive reactions that makes the viewer go “yes, this is exactly why I like this artist too!” … especially when it’s a young person listening to a classic act or a hot chick listening to heavy metal.

But when you dig in on just one of these “reaction” people, and you watch them react to Korn, Nickleback, The Carpenters, John Denver, Shinedown, and DMX all the same way you realize how fake it all is.
