Because I have been posting about guitars and looking up guitar stuff lately, the ads have been guitars and guitar center. Today pops up the SRV Strat for $56,995!!!??

Why? I understand they have recreated the paint job and wear marks and cigarette burn, but did they take a 59' body and 61' neck or whatever it was? I understand this should be an expensive guitar, but $60K for a early 2000's Stratocaster?

Discuss.

Nope. It is a 2003. He'd been dead a while.

In reading about it, it was a limited run of 100 guitars made as exact replicas after an examination of the original with Jimmie Vaughn.

Still kinda ridiculous, but makes a little more sense with that narrative.

The sentence actually makes sense in this thread. Stevie had a #2. Thought you were joking about OT baller status. 2 ain't as valuable as 1 but it has to be a million dollar guitar.

I saw the video on what all is involved in making the replica. Also, saw another video of a guy making his own. It WAS involved. Took a bare wood Strat and did his own burst finish. Then scraped 90% of it of like the original

Neither command 56,000. I'm trying to think of what kind of guitar $56,000 could buy. That's pre war D28 money. Or REAL 1960 Strat money.

So other custom shop and reissues selling for $3500 to $7000 seem like a fricking bargain?

I'm a Les Paul Custom guy. Loaded with emg kfk pick ups. Black with silver hardware.

Randall Satan amp & Mesa triple rectifier
On either a bogner uberkab or my new orang ppc412.

No way I'd pay over $6000 for a guitar though lol much less $50,000+

Right. Why pay for something that is just going to sit in a case on the wall? And it is not the real one.

They just need one rich dumbass to buy it.
Sad thing is they will probably sell a few.
