Spotify is great. You'd don't necessarily have to pay for service, if you don't mind hearing a couple commercials every 6 songs or so.
I found this playlist
LINK
and it's all I ever listen to. It's over 800 songs and is the most eclectic mix i've ever heard.
It has everything from ABB, Van Morrison, Pretty Lights, Chromeo, Dylan, Grateful Dead, Avett Brothers, Wood Brothers, DMB, Panic, Phish, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Revivalists, etc..
It has it all. I just turn it on in the car, and let it play.

thats what is great about spotify. the playlist. I think the radio is way better than Pandora.

I don't like how spotify "radio" is now a list of songs based on whatever artist / song you pick, and it doesn't seem to change much day to day. Pandora seems to give a better mix and I like that you can have multiple attributes (artists / songs) applied to one station.

worth paying for just to have my playlists available offline though

Honestly, Google Play music is a better value imo. $15 a month gives you same type of service as spotify plus youtube red on 6 google accounts (6 phones).

Is the search feature in spotify able to "be smart" and find near matches? That was my issue with it. You had to be very precise, or it would not locate what you were searching for. Google Music seems to have a better handle on searching. It will find artists even if your spelling is a little off. When you are going off of limited knowledge of an artist name and spelling phonetically yet a tad off, Google would yield results. Spotify would not.
It was a dealbreaker for me.
