Songs that really envelope, absorb, have a complete presence, and don´t fleetingly transmit something.

T Rex, Get It On (Bang a Gong)

I´ve got many more, as do yáll, but this is a start.

A nonsense nothing song, but it is enveloping.

Sympathy for the Devil, is definitely another. Absorbing. A veritable wall of sound.

I don't know if this works for you, but the drums, organ, rhythm guitar and bass in this song (especially when the instrumental middle comes to a crescendo)really works for me. The radio version did not have that, but this is the long version (sorry for the ad in the beginning):

Genesis "Tonight, Tonight, Tonight"

Damn, I´m not the judge, I´m just asking people to put up what they feel is a ´complete´song.

Your contribution is noted, and yeah, it´s pretty much there, IMO. It´s an imposing song.

I personally don´t or didn´t care for Genesis´s drummer ( I don´t recall his name now, and I KNOW he sold many, many more records than Peter Gabriel), but did love Peter Gabriel. Many would opine otherwise, many.

It´s about discussion and debate, after all, it´s a website.

There were a few drummers before Phil Collins, the only one I remember is Chris Stewart. I should look it up.

I know that Phil Spector had "The Wall of Sound" but "Tonight' by Genesis rolls over me like a giant wave in the last couple of minutes.

ETA: Yeah, I do not mean to put you into the role of "judge". After all, musical taste is subjective.

U2´s got a few from that álbum, you´re right.

The Unforgettable Fire is one, for me. Really wraps around you.

Fleetwood Mac?

Badass tune. Not a complete, enveloping tune to me, I´m waiting to hear from others (as to their opinión).

Simply, Limey white boys showing that the blues don´t belong to a certain people. It is epic, but I´m enthralled by the guitars, not the whole sound or song.

We´re talking about songs that you say when finished, ´wow, where the hell have I been´ or ´man, I was lost there for a minute´.

As Steely Dan would say, Time Out of Mind.

I have a few songs that come to mind. This one came first...

I love the way the song builds to one of his simplest, yet more powerful solos.

fricking a. Low Spark of High Heeled Boys is DEFINITELY one, IMO.

I may have expressed myself improperly, previously.

We´re talking about songs, that when they end, you´re like, wow, I don´t know what planet I´m on, or what my name is.

Low Spark is DEFINITELY_ one of these.

If you have the S&M album, Outlaw torn from 4:15 to the end. I've never heard such a beautifully angry song in my life. It really pulls you in and kicks your arse right out.

I agree

Traffic was TOO much

You´ve mentioned the same band twice, but you´ve got it. Epic, epic songs that leave you without breath.

I started this off with a song of no specific weight, but is absolutely enveloping, or takes you away, for the duration of the song. This is what I´m looking for all to post.
