This week is from 12-1-79. Disco making a tired, ragged last stand with the sounds of New Wave and Power Pop just beginning to be heard over the horizon.

I thought it was through the day. They do it on the 80's too.

it was definitely on during Saturday morning & mid-afternoon. I was driving from Shreveport > Tyler > Lufkin and was listening to some of the songs.

Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves was a #1 song in November 1971 - 50 years ago


edit: another story I remember Casey Kasem sharing was about KC & The Sunshine Band. Harry Wayne Casey (KC) worked at a record store, and took a job as a janitor at a recording studio. He wrote lots of songs and Rock Your Baby was recorded by George McRae. That's how that got into the music industry.
