I know a few of their songs. I know they're pretty heavy but I never really listened much of their stuff.

I really like that song that's been playing on the radio. The Waiting One. Good tune

if you're a casual metal fan, yes. They're a great starter band.

if you want to delve deep into metal genres, no.

their song writing is pretty elementary. i dont go for the growl/sing/growl style of linkin park, five finger death punch, killswitch engage... so this band is just meh for me.

if you like that "sound" but want something that is just better. check out lamb of god, throwdown, etc...

throwdown - holy roller. sounds IDENTICAL to pantera from vulgar.

lamb of god - set to fail. i picked out a simpler song from them. intro is terrible, skipped past it for you.

I'm expecting them to be growling and too much double bass emphasis and not quite artistic enough for me to really like them.

when you tell me you like all that remains, im giving you comparable bands.

dont hand me crayon sketches and expect me to bring you rembrandts.

ETA: i know you like some proggier stuff, and all that remains is not going to satisfy you.

if you want something that is good, try adrenaline mob. adrenaline mob - indifferentsinger from symphony x, portnoy and some guitarists.

pretty much a pantera cover band that has some originals. if you like vulgar display of power, and far beyond driven, its a good band. if those albums dont do anything for you, skip past them.

All That Remains is terrible. Throwdown is also terrible and sounds nothing like Pantera.

It's an insult to Pantera to say they sound alike.

I have never heard of throwdown until I clicked on this thread. A simple youtube search (fitst throwdown vid i clicked) proved Haplochrom right on point.

Pantera had a style and attitude that Throwdown will never come close to. That came through in their sound.

I agree with you 100%. Just saying that the Pantera comparison in style is easy to make.

im not saying that throwdown is running with their torch... they are a cover band. its why people have heard of them. they arent that great, but i like listening to them every now and then. its like hearing demos that never made it to the album.

same thing goes with beyond the embrace. its like metallica songs that never were.

I had the unfortunate experience of seeing Throwdown once. They did a Pantera cover. I forgot which song but it was awful. Everything about it was bad. I listened to Pantera almost exclusively throughout the 90s but never got to see them.

ditto, except add 2000s for me as well. the closest i got was when they toured with white zombie in 97. i was supposed to go see them with a guy i knew, but i had some sports shite to do at the time. he rightfully made fun of me for 2 or 3 years.
