His new single is getting a lot of hate because apparently it sounds too Nashville. He co-wrote it with Sean McConnell who is one of the most brilliant songwriters out there (and is more blues than country). I happen to love it but it's definitely different than a lot of stuff he's put out in the past.

"Tonight's Not the Night" (second clip) was released in 2004, though, so he wasn't under a Nashville label for that one.

You could most likely just buy tickets when you get there. He's not going to sell out in Louisiana.

Very good chance I'll be there.

I heard RRBs new single for the first time recently and I hated it. It has nothing to do with it being "nashville" - their last album, Burning the Day, was with a Nashville label and I think it is great from top to bottom. I just dont think the new single is a good song, regardless of which label or band released it.

But the studio definitely polished it up and put some serious editing tools on it. RR has a easily recognizable voice, but the chorus is edited so much that you cant even tell its RR singing it - its like they brought in a different singer just for those parts.

Judge for yourself

Correct Lou, they first signed with Mercury Nashville with the just of matter of time album and one more i think, then on to MCA Nashville for the burning the day album...Jimmy's boy EJ was their rep

If RR is near the biggest name in Texas country right now, I'll have to slide north up to Oklahoma for some real songwriting.

"Jericho" by John Fullbright

Of course, Fullbright is a folksinger compared to Rogers and his band, but when those younger generation Texas songwriters, who were once inspired by REK and Joe Ely, start singing Nashville style lyrics and arrangements like those in Randy Rogers' "Interstate", then they have given up on trying to carry on the tradition.

He sold out the varsity last time..

Boogie... that new song's gotta grow on me. It's just just lacks that RRB pop, if thats anything.

On a side note yall heard that Dallas Smith dude from Default's "country" album? The reason i ask is that new RRB single resembles that a little, more rockish than what they usually put out.

I'm ready for the new album, just wearing out good ole Stoney until that time gets here.
