1) Is Fleetwood Mac (FM) over, under, or appropriately rated?

2) Have any of y'all heard the FM Tribute album that is out? Thoughts?

3) What are your three favorite FM songs?

4) Give me an interesting FM story

Me first:
1. I believe they are appropriately rated historically. I wish they were underrated. If that were the case, their concert tickets might not go for 300 bucks. I like FM, but not THAT much.

2. I actually just grabbed it and am listening to Dreams. Not as good the original. But it's tough to improve upon that song.

3. Dreams, Everywhere, Tusk

4. In college I used to stash all my porn files in a folder named "Fleetwood Mac". The idea was that it wasn't a folder that would likely get clicked on by somebody using my computer. It served its purpose, but I probably underestimated the amount of appreciation that people of my age have fro Fleetwood Mac. I probably should have gone with "Steely Dan", "Three Dog Night", or "Mamas & Papas" instead.*

2. No

3. The Chain

4. My friend had a FM Rumors album on vinyl and we would always get high and listen to it. I accidentally spilled bong water on it one day.

1) rated appropriately

2) Haven't heard it

3) The Chain
Gold Dust Woman
Go Your Own Way

4) Lots of soap opera style drama with the band. Also, pre Nicks & Buckingham they were a blues band. Saw them in that form at the Warehouse in NO. I think Bob Welch may have been with them then.

Rated properly

Landslide is my favorite track. Then I'd go Chain and Edge of Seventeen.

Not a Fleetwood Mac song. It's from Stevie Nicks first solo album.

Waddy Waddel, who surfaced in the earlier Warren Zevon thread, played lead on that track and Benmont Tench (Heartbreaker) played keyboards. I saw an old concert video of it. Solid !

Probably about right, although early FM is probably under appreciated.

4) Give me an interesting FM story. My roomie at the time was a stagehand for the PMAC and saw Stevie coked our of her mind backstage when FM played there around 81 or 82.

That's Waddy Wachtel, and you're talking about the Belladonna tour concert filmed for HBO back in '82, I believe. It was only ever released on VHS, but you can find the whole concert on Youtube:

LINK

It's one of my favorite concert films, with outstanding versions of her solo and Fleetwood Mac stuff. Basically everything is a highlight, but what has stood out most to me all this time is the piano/vocal intro to "Rhiannon", and the song "Gold And Braid", which I don't think she ever recorded for an album. She never sounded better or looked more beautiful than she did in this film.

BTW, on some of the tracks, you can see Jimmy Iovine of recent America Idol fame looking like a long-haired hippy and playing percussion.

4) The Tom Petty song "Don't come around here no more" is about Stevie Nicks.*

*If you were in the Los Angeles music scene in the late 70s and early 80s and didn't have sex with Stevie Nicks, you were obviously a huge loser.**

**In fact, even if you just lived in Los Angeles in late 70s and early 80s -- but weren't affiliated with the music scene in any way shape or form -- there is a strong likelihood that you had sex with Stevie Nicks. And if you didn't, you're probably a huge loser.
