the story behind Royal Orleans from the Presence album
I'm 99% sure this is base on a true (trueish) incident that happened to John Paul Jones, as well as other stories to combine to make it a single "good" story for a song. Zeppelin regularly hung out in gay/drag bars because they thought it was more "fun" - now draw whatever inferences you like, but if anybody in Zeppelin was gay/bi it was Plant, not Jones (and even then, I don't think so). Jones indicated that they all knew and had mutual friends with these drag queens. One of them burned down his room at the Royal Orleans. The "mistaken" identity is another story, happened in another country and to another person, according to JPJ.

Thanks...but really, Ace was probably a music journalist in another life, and the rest of us are just trying to keep up

I'm flattered, but I just read a lot. I tend to listen to music when I travel and I read about how it all came to be made. It's a character flaw - I'm curious about everything.

Yeah, I'm kind of a junkie like that, even for bands/artists I'm not a fan of, always have been...but when it gets time to articulate what's swirling in my head into print, I'll often stumble all over my words, so alot of times I just tap out instead
