Wasn't really sure what to make of Kafka's Phish-American War comment in the "Non-Phish Show Of The Day Thread." I just started posting recently, so I'm not sure if this is a safe place to have a non-pt discussion of Phish's new album Sigma Oasis - YouTube

I'm on TD a lot reading football stuff, so thought I might give the music board a chance. Appears to be my speed and I love all music, so it is nice to see discussions about so many bands. I've already got a few recs that I tried and liked.

Been seeing live music for 40 years now - U2 at the Assembly Center (1987) was my first show and I've been addicted to live music since. I'm 45 with wife and 2 kids so family and work get in the way :)

Been seeing Phish for 25 years. This is by far my favorite album since Round Room. Really like the mix, production, and vocals on this album. Very good collection of songs from the last decade to wrap up in an album. It's the first Phish album that I have listened to several times in a few days. The last few albums didn't have any staying power in my rotation. Have tickets for a few shows this summer - oak mtn, atl, and deer creek. Never been to deer creek all these years, but we will see if it happens this year.

Anyways - I promise not to post about phish incessantly or piss off any folks on this board.

I was huge into them in the early 90s. Saw over 30 shows from 94-96. I abandoned them in like 2000. That being said, something about the 'rona for me hankering first Phish. Most of my friends are still huge into the band, and they all said I should check out the album. It's good. Like you, I've listened to it quite a bit over last few days. Not sure it will stay in my rotation, but I've enjoyed it.

Good to know. I've been obsessed with a few other jam bands over the years. I still travel to see the disco biscuits pretty regularly but will check out any good music in the nola area. Grew up in br but lived in the northeast and the east coast for 15 years before moving back to the nola area. Seen a good bit of music around the country. It's been nice to have jazz fest and voodoo fest back in heavy rotation. But still travel to festivals pretty regularly. My life revolves around music at times.

Today I love so many other types of music, but I'm still a jam band phan at the core.

96 jazzfest was my first show. Saw around 30 shows from 96-04 and 20 shows since they came back in 09. I'm more of a 2-3 shows per year kinda guy - usually a 3 night run over summer tour. Wife is still way more into phish than me. I probably would have dropped off the scene without her support:)

I got into phish in the late 90s for their type 2 jamming. Today I go into shows with no expectations and usually have a good time. But I've learned to do that with most bands these days. You know the saying - unrealistic expectations are premeditated resentments

Yes, that's them. Ben & Jerry were original members of the band. But their popularity caused rifts in the band. Fortunately, they parted on good terms :)

The secret to the ice cream is the finest milk from the Hood Bottling Company right their in Burlington.

My favorite flavor is still Phish Food. Who can resist chocolate ice cream with gooey marshmallow swirls, caramel swirls & fudge fish?

90% of dads love new album

Is it 90% of dads, 90% of dads that know of the band phish, 90% of dads that have seen phish, or 90% of dads who still rage at shows?

Still struggling to figure out which dad I am?

Idk, but I’m in that number too. It definitely exceeded my expectations.

While I prefer the live versions, I'm enjoying hearing their studio vision of the songs. Page dishes out alot of Richard Wright-esque space synth, very cool.
