I saw Pearl Jam years ago at Tad Gormley and they sounded just like their albums generally speaking. I’ve seen ZZTop 3 times and they were great every single time.

And when I think just like the album, I mean they sound like they did on the album and not like the beauty and precision of their music was generated via editing/manipulation. If live music sounds EXACTLY like the album, I think lip syncing and faux instrument playing.

Perhaps I missed your point, but I prefer the live show to NOT sounds exactly like the albums.

I’d much rather see sit-ins, a few covers, jam sessions, etc.

Saw Steely Dan mentioned also - Yep, perfect sound live. Saw them at the Woodlands mid-90's. It was the highlight of a road trip we took to watch Dinardo's Tigers get whacked by the Aggies.

i took the OP to mean they sounds "as good" as the album. Too often bands that sound great in studio suck live.
