Today is the 48th anniversary of the plane crash that took the lives of Ronnie Van Zandt and Steve and Cassie Gaines. I heard a story about the crash this morning that said Aerosmith almost chartered the same plane sometime before the crash, but the managers refused it because of the plane's appearance and the unprofessional nature of the crew. I guess that is common knowledge, but I hadn't heard the story before.
Anyway...I will be listening to Pronounced 'Leh-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd throughout the day.

Yep. They were primed to have another career surge with the addition of Steve Gaines.
I always wondered if they would have moved into a little more country into the 80's and 90's. Guys like Travis Tritt wanted nothing more than to be Ronnie Van Zandt and Skynyrd could have fit right in with some of the harder edged country acts at the time while still retaining their blistering guitar elements.

They perfected what we refer to as "Southern Rock."
So much talent in one band.
