the only one making a name for themselves...they are nowhere close to skyrnd type fame but they are the guys who have a chance to be that big in time...there just isnt a platform for southern rock really on radio anymore which sucks but just the truth

wow degrade a band for success? typical

There is a platform for southern rock... Its not the radio but there are is a very very large group of southern rock bands out there and the genre is making quite a resurgence.

Drive By Truckers
Band Of Heathens
Alabama Shakes

Quite a few of the Texas Country musicians take their influences from southern rock.

Then you have the Jam Bands that take quite a bit of influence from southern rock.

One of my favorites. Lee Bains used to play in it.

Glory fires, dexateens, and Alabama shakes all played a show together recently.

You live in a state where there is some of the best music happening right now in the country.

I will put my two cents in here. I have never heard of Band of Heathens or Blackberry Smoke before I clicked on this thread. I listened to Band of Heathens-"You're Gonna Miss Me" and Blackberry Smoke-"Good One". I realize that these are one of many songs these bands have recorded but on those listens alone it was simple...Band of Heathens >>>> Blackberry Smoke.

Blackberry Smoke sounded like what a group of record execs who wanted a band to look southern rock but sound Top 40 country. The lyricism on Gone was laughable. Band of Heathens were pretty good, I don't think a three guitar assault is necessary with the music they deliver. However, the lyrics were great and their style was so confident without trying (Blackberry Smoke is way more image driven).

That is all.
