has my attention. Has anybody tried one?
Before you discount it, as just another Epiphone Les Paul copy, read the description and specs.

I'm definitely going to be trying one out soon.

Amber/honey burst and goldtop are probably my personal favorite finishes. This has some high end features for an Epiphone.... Grover tuners, Gibson USA pickups, Gibson headstock, and a hardshell case.

That being said, I haven't played a Chinese made instrument or an Epi for that matter in a while. If fit and finish are decent though, it could be a steal for the price.

CTS pots and Mallory Capacitors too (My Mom worked at Mallory years ago) It also has the Kalamazoo style headstock.

I'm going to check them out. I won't buy a new one, but a used one will surface before too long.

It's to be taken into account at least. You can get a USA made Gibson Les Paul Tribute for that price. I got a Tribute not long ago and it's easily my new #1. It sounds and plays like no other guitar I've ever had.

Keep in mind Epi and Epiphone are not the same company.
I understand why people think this way, based on past experiences, but over the past couple of years the quality of Epiphone has made a dramatic change for the better.
There has been a dramatic change in philosophy at Gibson on how they treat the Epiphone brand. Probably because of the success of Squier's upper end models.
As an investment, I mostly agree that an Epiphone likely isn't going to appreciate in value, but as a player, this may be a guitar that you never want to upgrade.
I want to try them out at least.

I remember you posting about that, and it's a great point.
I need to try one of those too.

I bought a higher end Epiphone in the past, but wouldn't at current prices. They are good guitars though.

There is only one Epiphone and the "Epis" are absolutely the same company and products.

Epiphone's core product since their acquisition by Gibson in the late 50s has been either Gibson-inspired guitars (60s to the 80s) or Gibson copies (80s to the present).

"Epi" headstock Epiphones were a short-lived late 80s and 1990s limited-window marketing and rebranding initiatives of cheaper, non-core product by the same company.

Epiphone assigned/used their nickname as a similar-yet-different logo to guitars that didn't align with their traditional Gibson inspired or clone products. Like Stratocaster copies ...

And not Gibson but Martin D series acoustic copies ...

They pre-date Chinese Epiphones, they were MIK era if my memory is correct. They were also pretty poor quality - laminate top acoustics, plywood body solidbodies, horrid electronics, frets like donkey teeth, and unskilled labor in regard to making it all come together. Best suited for use as a canoe paddle nowadays.

There are new epis out here, that have nothing to do with Gibson or Epiphone. Absolute junk.
Lucky arse you (with all due respect), in your situation, you don't wade through the junkpiles as much. I still do.
Once in a while you can find a diamond, but it's getting rare.
I'm always lookin though.

The story behind Kirk’s Greeny burst is awesome. Truly an incredible guitar (obviously as it’s a ‘59 Les Paul) with a history to match.
