Wayne Newton - "Comin' On Too Strong"
Supposedly producer Terry Melcher (Byrds, Paul Revere) made a bet w/fellow L.A. prod Gary Usher (Beach Boys, Byrds) he could make the song a hit w/anybody, and cut it w/Newton in the style of The Beach Boys.
Notice how little Newton himself is heard -- if he's even in the chorus at all all, he's mixed deep deep down.

Paul Peterson played the son on the popular TV sitcom The Donna Reed Show. He became a teen idol and recorded a lot of crap. But the month The Beatles were on The Ed Sullivan Show he released this ahead-of-it's-time rocker, produced and co-written by Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys.
