My wife is a bad azz when it comes to sensing music influences of bands (Foo Fighters)

For example, today we were riding together, and I am playing Three Dog Night's Liar. My Dad played the chit out of Three Dog Night when I was growing up. I have no less than 5 of their songs in a particular play list.
She says, wow, Three Dog Night must have been strong influence on Dave Grohl/Foo Fighters.
If interested, listen to Three Dog Night's Liar and picture a Foo Fighters song/set. Holy chit...she is right (again). Never in a million years would I have heard the connection without her. Love her for so many reasons!

Listen to "It's all too much" by The Beatles and then listen to "Family of man" by Three Dog Night.

That's more on Paul Williams, who was one of the songwriters. 3 Dog Night primarily performed songs from other songwriters (Nyro, Paul Williams, Hoyt Axton, to name a few). So what you're hearing is the influence on the writer, not so much the performer.

I don't really hear it to be honest.

Sunny Day Real Estate was a bigger influence.
