the battery powered 3 watt deal. I just wish it's a little louder, for recording something in particular with it.
I had this idea, and I wanted some opinions before I plug it all together and burn something up.

I've got some powered computer speakers that sound pretty good, and are about 20 watts. I was thinking about hooking them into the headphone jack on the little orange crush amp and miking them up inside of a padded wooden crate. Yall think that would work?

It's a LP Jr kit guitar, that I put together. There was a thread on this forum where another poster posted the photos for me. I have searched for that thread but couldn't find it. Maybe you will have better luck than me. It would have been back around January or February.
Here is a link to that thread, but I think you already saw those photos that were there, you posted a reply in that thread. LINK /

Do you think what I want to do, will work? I haven't tried it yet.

Depending on how you mic it (using an sm57 into an audio interface with you DAW) i think could make some decent DIY metal.

Good thing is if anything fricks up, the speakers should be an easy replacement.

I know its about guitar sound, but I used questionable speakers a lot in a makeshift studio in the late 2000s which at times I played through and mic'd for the weird feedbacks.

Eta

Usually I use HS8 studio monitors to mix on though, but had fun (but often frustrating results) lol

Love these things

It's really just a rockabilly sound. It sounds perfect just plugged straight into the little Orange Crush amp with the gain turned up about 2/3rds of the way. Probably just going to try and use the condenser mics on my Tascam recorder and then use the delay and reverb of the recorder to get it just right.
I'm kind of wondering too, how close the sound will be coming out of the speakers, to what I'm getting from the little amp, would it change much? I guess, I'm just going to try it tomorrow and find out.
I suppose what I'm trying to get is more of an electric bluegrass sound, it's going to be an open C tuning.
Appreciate your input

I suspect it's going to be quite a bit different

The guitarist for dredg did some similar experimentation on their last album, Chuckles and Mr. Squeezy. The album was not well-received, and I honestly did not care for it at first, but it has grown on me a bit. Anyway, Mark and Dan the Automator experimented with a bunch of "small speaker" setups to get unusual guitar sounds. I think the most obvious example is the song Upon Returning.

If you’re getting a tone you like, you have more than enough volume. You won’t like the result from the headphone jack. Stick a 57 at the edge of the cap and play with that.

I am kind of limited on the mics that I have available right now and buying better ones, is out of the question. This is just a song demo though, I just want to give the guitar a good flavor on it. I messed around with it today, and I think I will just record it directly from the little amp.
