I would assume people took issue with his descriptions of Linkin Park and Rage

Aside from that they also grew out of their nu-mental sound and went into different genres of rock which gave them a wider audience and fresher sound.
They didn't so much "grow out of" their nu-metal sound. The non Chester/Shinoda/Hahn members of the band wanted to do more than play power chords to compliment those 3.
I love early LP. Reanimation is one of the most underrated albums I've ever heard. The balls to remix Hybrid Theory as the follow up is pretty out there. And then you look at the "special guests" they pulled into that album.
Chali 2na - Jurassic 5
Black Thought - the Roots
Stephen Richards - Taproot
Jonathan Davis - Korn
Aaron Lewis - Staind
Stephen Carpenter - Deftones
That's a pretty diverse and noteworthy roster. They followed up an 8 digit sold album with a remix of that album. Again, who does that? Even more ridiculous, a chunk of the songs are BETTER than the originals.
Collision Course with Jay-Z? Very few bands could have pulled that off.
You may not like the music, but early Linkin Park pushed the envelope.
Everything post Minutes to Midnight is generic garbage though.
Post M2M LP just sounds like a band devoid of any discernible identity, scrambling to find a way to balance 6 members instead of putting your "elite 3" front and center.
The combination of Hahn/Chester/Shinoda made them special. They should have been a massive band that continued to evolve. Instead, they became an amphitheater level band coasting off the merits of albums and styles well in their rearview.

Things like this are very subjective. For me Metallica is the only one I care for at all but that's just me. The next person to chime in may love LP and RATM and hate Metallica. I don't think there is a wrong answer really.
I suppose they could be ranked by technical merit but I'm not qualified to do that, I just know what I like and what I don't

I don’t know how linkin park became popular. Might be my least favorite band
With you here. Just don't get them, I guess.

I like early Linkin Park. Chester was a very good singer imo. But he could have done so much more with better musicians surrounding him. But no, not better than Metallica by a longshot.
