No. Maybe Wilco, but anyone who knows anything would laugh at you in the fricking face for saying MMJ's live show isnt up to par with MuteMath's

Some fools on this board.
Some people are just clueless.
I'm just expecting a "mutemath? Never heard of them" post

LOL I've seen all three and LOL mutemath blows them away LOL
I guess its all relative... I just listened to a few songs on youtube and not my cup of tea... I'd be hard pressed to say Id enjoy them over the above two
I dont begrudge your boy for booking them, it seems like a good bit of business. My buddy that booked em at Chelseas said they were sold out well in advance and they were a tight band...

apples vs oranges
sounds like a totally different style show
I can't imagine Jeff Tweedy doing this

throwing an LED mattress out into th crowd and crowd surfing. Along with backflips into the crowd and hand stands onto top of keyboards

Sweet meltdown, TheDoc
Sweet list of 50 bands that put on a better live show than mutemath
I've seen MMJ live... Boring Stoner band.
I've seen wilco live 3 times... Good show, but no where NEAR the show that mutemath puts on with crowd involvement.

I'd much rather go see mutemath live than most bands on tour right now. They aren't my favorite band or anything, but holy shite, their live show is insane.
They are featured on Palladia ALL THE TIME
That DVD of theirs is on constant rotation.
One of those bands you have to see live to understand the hype. I sure didn't before I saw them.

Gabe is very smart and has good contacts from the years. He just couldnt do Chelsea's anymore for a couple of reasons.. But I'm sure you already know that.

Im aware of things... I was responding to the "fall in his lap" comment...
Dont see how its any different from Flaming Lips at Varsity. Given what the FL's were trying to do and geography and time limits... that kinda booked itself

They could have played the river center
In both cases, each venue was contacted by the bands management.

You make it seem like I don't know
I can assure you the new talent buyer reaches out to acts on a daily basis. Sometimes things fall in line and you get the flaming lips.
However if the announcement today was the flaming lips, you'd still have people bitching "the flaming who?" etc
Haters gon hate

I know you know... If he wasnt, he wouldnt be there long...
I agree people will always bitch, but you do invite that with your build up...
I dont care, I just like discussing music... and even though I no longer am there, I still hold an interest in the BR music scene...

frick the haters, Doc. My arse will be there on the 23rd. I've seen some great fricking bands live and the show that Mutemath put on when I saw them blew the rest away. They are great. I can't wait to see them again

I've seen more bands than most people I know, having lived all over, and mutemath really, really impressed me.
Another band that reminds me of them (their energy or sound somewhat) is mobley out of Austin Texas. Incredible live band coming to BR July 21st:
Mobley live

Cool. Me too, including stints as a roadie for Neil Young.
