I said this in another thread but I'll give him this...he's the least douchey of the bro-country douches.

don't care for his singing style (especially on "mistress") but apparently there's now a federal law that males have to sing country like that

Otherwise it was OK, particularly the second one. Definitely preferable to tractor rap/hick hop/bro country

George Strait concerts are boring but I believe he has more number one hits than any artist regardless of genre. He also was credited for help saving country music when it was going in the wrong direction.

I have heard of Eric church but didn't listen to his music. Since it involves some bro country, I'll take a hard pass.

It wasn't anywhere near as bad as I'd feared

Once you get away from rap shite, my biggest problem w/ today's country is the singing. If you're male, you have to sing through your nose in a very narrow range

Eric Church couldn’t carry a guitar to the stage for George Jones.

Fell asleep at a GS concert ... he stands in one place and strums. It was so boring

Look I respect your opinion but since when do country artists have to parade around the stage like Beyonce to entertain you?

To be honest, that’s the formula Luke Bryan uses so there’s that, but he’s not real country.

George Strait is built for the studio, he never had an outgoing personality that translated to concerts. He is a traditionalist that helped country music go back to it's roots in the 80s.

Garth Brooks is the opposite. He combined the arena rock concerts from the 80s with country music. He is the biggest selling country artist of all time, no one comes close. However he is not a traditional country artist compared to older artists of years before.

Country music has never been a genre of jumping around and breaking guitars on stage. It is a bout the songs and storytelling. That is the heart of the music. Some people will never understand because they refuse to listen.

Luke Bryan sucks. I can't tolerate his whiney voice. The only reason he is popular is that he gets the women vote and that is a huge demographic.

Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith, Randy Travis, Darius Rucker, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson......I’d take probably 10 or so guys before Church.

Country Music Is ‘Dead’: Icon Loretta Lynn Trashes Modern Hits
quote:

Loretta Lynn voiced her displeasure with current country music during a recent podcast, and she didn’t hold back.

The 87-year-old country music pioneer told Martina McBride that she thinks country music is “dead.”

“I think it’s a shame,” she said on the ‘Vocal Point with Martina McBride’ podcast, according to WhiskeyRiff.com. “I think it’s a shame to let a type of music die. I don’t care what any kind of music it is. Rock, country, whatever. I think it’s a shame to let it die, and I’m here to start feeding it.”
quote:

The Kentucky native said she loves country music and is proud of its heritage, but feels the “hard push to crossover” is ruining the genre. Many current country acts are incorporating pop or rap into their songs.

“I like it country — pure and simple and real,” she said on Facebook. “I am so proud of all the artists out there, especially the younger ones, who know what I mean and are still keeping it country. When you love something, you can’t just stand by quietly if you think it’s in danger.”

It’s not the first time Lynn sounded off on the country music genre. In 2010 she wrote in the introduction to her biography about the blurred lines between country and pop.

“Some of these country singers aren’t really country ... I think some of them should be singing pop music and leave country alone,” she wrote, according to TheBoot.com.
