Ulrich often contends that if folks knew the truth, they'd see that Hetfiled is the real bad guy in the bunch.
James seems to have pet peeves when it comes to making music. Keep in mind, he went from cliff burton..a guy that he probably learned from, to Jason..a guy that watched James and followed everything he did instead of writing his own.
James probably used that as an outlet for resentment in dealing with a Death of a good friend and musical brother. I wasn't there and I can't say, Its just speculation..but as a guitar player with a lot of pet peeves myself I speculate lol

All because James was selfish about Jason wanting to do side work.

STOP. You 're embarrassing yourself .Dave Lombardo is widely recognized as one of the best metal drummers on the planet ...As is Gene Hogland . Believe me , if either of those 2 guys were with Metallica from the beginning they would have made just as much money .Dont be an idiot.

Labeling Metallica as "sell-outs" is beyond stale, at this point. They've been the "New Metallica" far longer than they were the "Old Metallica" by now, and the majority of their fanbase came to terms with that a long time ago.
This. Everybody wants to shite on them. Like they sold out after Cliff died. Like they were already Led Zepplin at that point with a decade of world domination under their belts? No they had what 2-3 albums and had really just gotten the taste of festival shows and worldwide fame. Just hang it up then at 24-26? Just for the bass player? An awesome bass player but damn they can and did find two more. Just stupid.

I don't care if Lombardo or Hogland (whoever the hell he is...) each had three arms and could drum like motherfrickers, they lack the ambition and business sense of Lars Ulrich.
Slayer had Lombardo, so why aren't their songs played at NFL games or their t-shirts sold in department stores? Hogland's so good, I don't even know what band he played in!
There's no way in hell Metallica reaches the heights they have without Lars leading the way. Anyone who says otherwise, respectfully, is the idiot.

This is utter nonsense. Those 2 guys may be wildly capable, but they weren’t James best buddy growing up or right out of high school. Chemistry matters. Even more than ability in a band setting. Yngwie Malmsteen would have joined a band, say… Anthrax. Would they have ruled the world?
Go back in time and throw an Ibanez in Tommy Emmanuels hands? Tell him “here is Lars and James you may want to Travis pick, but if you dump that these guys will make you millions on millions.” Would it work? Hell no.
Lars isn’t dogshit. He isn’t Bonham or Peart but to say he had zero influence on metal drumming is stupid. Double bass? Snare that sounds like a Tom, dramatic pauses, grabbing the crash right after contact. He did not invent these things but he incorporated them into what the guy sitting in that stool HAS to sound like.
YouTube is full of drummers who can play circles around Lars. At times Lars played drums like a guitarist plays riffs.

ok . maybe you should look up Gene Hogland ,Its obvious you know nothing about the metal scene.I do apologize ,i thought this thread was for people who actually know something .
Gene Hogland is known as probably the best drummer on the planet today in metal . He is known as "The Atomic Clock and The Human Drum Machine" . Most recently played with Testament .

Further research shows that Hogland is so authentic, so "metal," that he played in a frickin' cartoon band. Hogland's no sell-out; no sir.

I didn't hate them or anything like that but I wasn't a huge Metallica fan but then I saw them live when they did that tour with GnR back in the early 90's and was very pleasantly surprised. They were damn good.
It definitely gave me a greater appreciation of their talents
