All this love for Rust in Peace...I don’t deny that Holy Wars is a masterpiece, but So Far, So Good is my favorite Megadeth album. Hook in Mouth is probably my favorite Megadeth song (though Holy Wars is technically superior) and both Mary Jane and In My Darkest Hour are near the top for me.
Agreed. While Rust is my favorite I did in fact mean to reference this album in one of my prior posts and I guess I got sidetracked on another point. In My Darkest Hour is one of my favorites of theirs. Definitely another classic.

Megadeth didn't really do anything different than Metallica or Slayer.

quote:This is insane. Rust, Countdown, Youth and Cryptic are all insane masterpieces. Risk came out in 1999 and is at least passable.
They put out a lot of garbage in the 90s
Also the 2001 and 2004 albums are great as well.

quote:Yes for Slayer, no for Metallica. MoP is a pretty gottdamned high level of musicianship.
The musicianship was far far above Metallica and Slayer.

Cryptic Writings isn't good either.
quote:I enjoy the hell out of them - particularly System. The Scorpion is fricking awesome.
The World Needs a Hero and The System Has Failed are both extremely generic. I've never heard actually heard anyone say they enjoy any of those albums.

Countdown to Extinction, which itself is a watered down version of the black album.
