Take this for what it's worth but I've posted it on here before. 6 years ago my wife and were on traveling medical jobs in San Diego. One of my wife's patients was a close extended family member of Maynard. She asked my wife if she heard of him and she didn't recognize the name. So the lady told her to ask me. I immediately got really excited as tool is one of my all time favorites. This woman told me wife that Maynard actually really disliked being in tool at this point and only enjoyed his other bands. She said that he only performed with tool for the paychecks which were astronomical. Take it for what it's worth
