I really like a darker look,is there a certain type of light that will turn it darker? I have one that just is too light, looks almost white,it's a great sounding/playing guitar though.

Are you talking about staining a guitar?

I would say don't do that. I don't know that it CANT be done, but if you are asking on here, you probably aren't up to the task. Meaning how to do it without changing tone.

No, I mean something like leaving it under a blacklight, something like that. Don't want to mess with the finish, because that will definitely change the sound.

Eventually,I am sure it will darken, but I am just wondering,Is there a way to make it happen faster?

This guitar has barely seen light for 40 years,it looks so new, that it looks fake.

Best bet is to expose it to natural UV in indirect sunlight, "indirect" because you don't want to pseudo-greenhouse it in a window sill or the like and potentially harm the finish or adhesives, warp the pickguard, etc. Put it in a sunny room on a stand away from the light source and be patient. Keep in mind modern windows likely have UV tints/barriers.

I just found this online and it appears to be a speedy alternative. I personally wouldn't try it or recommend it on a 40-year old acoustic, plus it's not exactly cheap, but it may give you some ideas. Exposing guitar to UV bulb to speed aging.

Do you know what kind of spruce? I'm assuming Sitka spruce, however what you're describing (almost white) sounds like it could be engelmann.

Not that I would even know how to change the color, I'm just curious.
